62x92cm
Floor rug
Rug yarn, Icelandic wool.
2023
Techniques used in my rug:
- Sculpting
- Different sizes of punch needles
- Multiple strands of yarn
- Novelty yarns (Icelandic Lopi and Alaffaslopi)

For the border I have 2 rows of stem stitch and one of the darker areas is lined with a bead stitch.

My certification rug’s design comes from one of my previously crafted punch needle artworks – 'Still And Silent.' It was created while reminiscing the easiness I felt on my 2021 autumn holiday, spent in the Finnish countryside. This original piece was made improvisationally, just transferring this gentle and calm sense I felt on my summer holiday. When finished, the main focus point kept lingering on my mind (as it often does actually, so perhaps it is a start of a new method for me to explore more). I took this focus point area, simplified it and turned it into a more planned and analysed pattern.
